Default ZH Farilane 500 (my new project/daily driver)

Well what can I say, It All started when my first car was a 78 XC Falcon base model, lowered to the bumpstops & jelly bean mags. but the motor dident last long & the floor had holes so it went to the wrecker. then I had a few various other cars then ended up with a 85 FE LTD that was great but dident have the speed i wanted. So i sold it for a 85 626 mazda turbo coupe. that was fun for only a week untill i realised how unpractical it was & for power vs fuel use it wasent worth it. also it was to small. its offical I HATE TURBO'S so i hung onto it for about 9months. I have just sold it for a 78 ZH Fairlane 500 302c v8 (in my mind I got a better car for cheaper) & pocketed over $1000. oh the car had been sitting for some time before i got it & was extreemly dirty & the bumpers & wheels had rust & overspray on them. but all clean now & even blackened the roof (it was nearly gray & white in one spot)

well here she is, all i have done is freshened up the carby (carter thermoquad) with a FUEL MISER rebuild kit, tightened some hoses & fitted a air filter (dident have one)

Nice work! Oh I love that shape... I considered buying one instead of the NCII I ended up getting, but decided not to because I needed a car that I could actually drive day to day, and not a project car...

thanks heaps m8, yeah im just hoping luck is on my side as I am using it as a daily driver, im weaning out some bugs like the other day when i put on the wipers & smoke bellowed out from the dash, it not the first time its smoked too lol.
note for later: dont push old radio wires back into he dash without taping off the ends lol,

ive allso got a very dodgy fuel gauge & a internittant fuel leak from the pump.

I removed the a/c compressor & i can see he motor now lol, what a ugly peice of metal shurly ford couldent of tryed to hide it.

still need to remove the a/c lines & condensor & ive got a 16in electric fan that i still need to fit, then i wanna get a gilmer kit

lol thanks, dont think I will ever sell it. Dont like the chances of getting another one for $1225 (gotta love ebay)

UPDATE well I did it, I now have 4 working speakers & a cd player. still need to replace the areial due to a shortcurcit last week & removed the offending wire that caused the short & have ordered a 16in brushless electric fan 2750 CFM ($60) that should keep it cool when im abusing it.

so when i get that i will get a david craig thermatic controler ($50) & check the heator core, replace/reconnect core, & give the old girl one hell of a coolant flush.

Nice loooking car. May I ask why you are removing the A/C? Fix that fuel leak ASAP; pumps are cheap enough.

$1225!!! Wow!!! The one I contemplated was $4000!!! I ended up getting the NCII for $1500 instead.

ok Ive never had much luck with a/c allways problems, i just cant jusify spending cash on it aswell, ths factory a/c system ruins the look of the motor, its the most un thought out system ever(compressor location & length/location of highpressure hose) I see ford got it right on the later 5l v8 nicer to the eyes.
But a/c is not for me, im removing it all for looks mainly
this way i can get chrome rockercovers & a timing cover & be able to see them lol.

just for the record, i plan to keep the interier & out side of the car stock, but have my fun under the bonnett

thanks again guys

Awesome... before I realised how much I wanted an e-series, I wanted an older ford like this. I wanted either a fairlane just like this one.. or the ltd. I'd love to do one up. And the great thing is, there are so many parts flying around on ebay for them.

ha, hows i was looking for a EB11 or a NC fairlane when i came accross this on ebay, when i saw the price I just had to get it, I dident even have the cash for it, but luckly i managed to sell my other car within a week so i wouldent get in troubble with ebay & here i am with it.

Hows my fav would have to be a XC coupe, then the ZH fairlane & a XC 4 door. but then againe i love my XB's. What can i say im a sucker for old V8's
i so wanna get a "classic not plastic" sticker lol but i think it might look a bit silly.

the only things that would of made this car better 351 & a 9" oh & maby a GLX dash

Well done though mate... and you've cleaned her up proud. One of these days you'll have to devote yourself to cleaning the engine bay.

Shame there is a holden in the background though!

Phoar, very nice machine you got there ! . My dear old grandma had a ZG 302 in the same colour scheme in absolute brand new condition, this bloke hounded her for years to get her to sell it to him - which she did a couple of years ago....for $700....which she put towards the cost of new Hyundai.. I cried

Update,

Ive fitted a weiand accelerator manifold & running a holley 600 vac secondarys, custom egr block plate, soon to fit some hooker headers i got for her. oh and I got a 100-250hp nitrous plate for later on.

ive removed the fan & fitted a 2400cfm brushless fan with a craig david fan controller... still finetuning...

oh
ive fixed the heator core, I managed to get a leak free brake booster really cheap, thats been cleaned primed & painted. Soon to rebuild the master cylinder & fit a b&m line lock kit. ummmm & im trying to find the heator controller face & switches.

Yep this old girl keeps me busy, i think my wife is jealous, that i spend so much time with her, lol

post more pics as soon as i clean my greesy hand prints of the manifold.

Hey Guys, well ive had a few Fuel leaks that have been sending me mad.
i would fix one and anotherone would start, when i got the car it was leaking from the fuel tank senders o ring, hose from sender to fuel pipe, hose from fuel pipe to pump, pump it self, fuel filter & banjo fitting on carb. all nearly fixed.
So one day i cracked & wondered how to make an idiot proof fuel line.
well here is my new fuel line (waiting on fuel pump fitting) & another toy soon to be fitted with some other goodies i got
