Default hsv vs fpv (sales)

just flicking through my latest AMC mag and found this;

"Its just over 12 months since FPV was claiming sales victory over HSV. However, AMC has peiced together HSV and FPV sales since HSVs record-breaking E-series arrived, which tells a different tale;"

oct 06 - hsv 490 / fpv 198

nov 06 - hsv 515 / fpv 199

dec 06 - hsv 519 / fpv 146

jan 07 - hsv 362 / fpv 135

feb 07 - hsv 357 / fpv 110

mar 07 - hsv 491 / fpv 184

apr 07 - hsv 475 / fpv 150

FPV hasn't claimed victory ever since the E Series HSVs went on sale. Why doesn't AMC have the sale for the last 12 months since they're referring to them?

lol i sortof ran out of time when posting, i was going to ad something like what you said to the original post.

anyway i dont get it, sortof a cheap shot at fpv. like the brand new HSVs wouldnt have been outselling the updated FPVs.

Except that E-Series wasn't available in Oct 06. So that number is Z series runouts.

Does the FPV figures include NZ sales as well because i know that the HSV sales do.

Also, i find it interesting in NZ that an SSV and a F6 retail at the same/or similar price (give or take $1000) yet i see a lot more SSV' round.

I find this quite surprising since that buying an FPV would be more exclusive compared to an SSV, though i suppose at the end of the day its come down to the V6 vs V8 thing i suppose

oh really? surely those could only be FPVs Aus sales then, although how many do they actually sell in NZ?

Has anybody questioned the data? Theyve pieced it together from what? I highly doubt FPV would make a false claim. There must have been some truth in it if even for 1 month..

nah the point is FPV made those comments before these dates;

Quote:

so the sales figures from these dates has nothing to do with what fpv said or claimed. youd have to go back 12 months to when fpv made that claim then a further (i dunno how many months) and use those figures... i think.

FPV claimed it in the 6 months prior to the VZ runout / VE release.

You'll notice thay're not running that ad campaign any more.

Anyway I'm not sure what the data is proving. Are the media just trying to find anything with a blue oval to criticize? Why not run an article on how the Falcon is outselling the Barina! Must have been a slow news day…

Not sure exactly but i remember reading somewhere that HSV export around 10%-15% of there production to NZ so i would assume that FPV could be similar. Not 100% sure on that figure though, could be a little lower.

Going back to my previous post, RRP for a SSV is $66,990 and a Typhoon is $67,990 and i see a lot more SSV which i find quite surprising

Really? Gee I didn't realise the SSV was that expensive, and as you said, there is a fair number of them around. Just goes to show that if you offer a great car, people will buy it even if it has a Holden (or Ford) badge. Hopefully Ford expands the turbocharged 6 range, although I still question the idea of dumping the V8 option because they've still got a lot of charm. While the TI6 (as brilliant as it is) is still the same motor as a taxi with a hairdryer stuck on.

Keep your FPV locked away and in years to come it will be a rare peice of gear and be worth $$$ while all the boy racers will be getting around in flogged out undesired cheap as chips HSV's
