Yes, I believe a new body diesel Territory will offer excellent returns to Ford but
I wonder whether we will ever see a 5.0 V8 in a RWD Territory - that would be a hoot.
Would be a hoot, but a niche market... if the development costs are low, it could be worth it. The new V8 would be a better mill for that job than the Boss, because a bonnet bulge on a Tez would just look stupid.

It's a pity Coyote wasn't around 4 year ago because I'd image that a few more V8 powered local Fords would be be available today.

Back to wagons though, I would hate to see it dropped as my family's first brand new Ford was an XP wagon, followed by XW, XE, EF, EL and BA...all wagons.

Territory G8 and G8E........
Ford is discovering that desirable niche markets are where the cash buyers reside.
I doubt you'd need a bonnet bulge in any respect, I gather the V6 diesel is pretty tall
so there should be plenty of room for a bent eight....

Actually, it was quite a compact unit! Fit easier than the I6...

I am sure it will have alot of frontal space now too. Considering the V is 3 long not 6 long obviously.

There was a Territory with a Boss 290 in it for sale on ebay a while ago, so the V8's fit...

Did it have a custom bonnet though? That would be a very tight fit if it didn't!

Nope, same bonnet.

Check it out. Dunno why you wouldn't have started with a Ghia...

Not really. Every car ive seen with a V8 also has Falcon suspension, and primarily the rear mount steering rack.

Territory has deeper engine bay and the steering rack is front mounted so it doesn't foul the AWD...
That's one of the reasons why the moved the FGs as well, AWD preservation.....

Tezz's Bonnet does sit higher and the mounts are rearward set so even more free space... all the conversions I've heard about have been RWD's (again for the room I guess)

Thats the standard car though. The V8 doesnt fit with the stock suspension, as such both the CAPA and FTG salvage cars have Falcon bits fitted.

Territory was never designed to take the Boss 5.4 which barely fitted into BA/BF.
The next Territory will have lots of changes and I'd expect that room
has been made for the more compact 5.0 as a just in case provision....

Seems to have enough room for a top mount intercooler though

interesting lil thing here.

i was reading through an old "australian motor racing year book" and came across an ad for EF XRs.

they referred to the XR6 "sports wagon" so we had it first. so there.

How does the Territory compare with the Captiva? Wouldn't that be the Territory's direct competitor, rather than the Commodore wagon?

Captiva is a true Mid Sized SUV/CUV, Territory, Kluger and CX-9 are a super sized versions bordering on Large SUV.
