congratulations. A great car, fantastic power-to-weight.
Pure car, no ABS/traction control/ electronic interference

Nerd's car? you gotta be kidding. Real car, more like it.

Enjoy!

(or upgrade to a twin-cam. Lotus for the purists but expensive rebuild. Toyota for the pragmatist.)

Thats what I reckon! If I could get my hands on one of these, I would be a very happy chappy! Tbh, I would try and fit a side mounted I6 into it because I am me, but failing that, a worked cozzie engine would be the next go...

my next long term project is going to be building one of these its crazy tho too pass emissions you have to use a newish engine so rather than a oldschool carby 4cyl pushing 50kw if that you have to run a brand spanker pushing 100+kw LOL

www.ozclubbies.com

some awesome builds there

also there was a guy over on ford6 forum in the usa putting a 250xflow into one a few years back stuffed if i can find anything about it now tho

I would try and fetch an EF/EL OHC and mount it on its side like in a TVR... with some custom manifolds, and a crazy driveshaft installation, it should go quite well, and the engine will only cost a couple of hundred to buy, and have so much torque that they will fit right in with a body this light!!!

handles nearly like a motorbike but with four wheels. Lightweight and bloody
quick. A very nice piece of kit.

Jpod the problem with putting a I6 would be weight balance may be upset. You
probably have to design a bigger chassis to accomodate. Id probably work a
4 cylinder with a small turbo but its light weight is plenty of help anyway- only 590kg..wow.

Yeah, I know. Its a very top heavy, and tall motor. I would have to mount it so the crank is not running through the center of the car, and so I will need to have a very violent angle on the two piece driveshaft that i will need, and that will cause ridiculous amounts of driveline issues under torque. The best option I see is to decrease the angle the engine would sit on, and have a custom, taller bonnet fabricated. This would reduce my driveshaft angle, and POSSIBLY work... Other option is a completely custom transmission that can change the line in which the torque runs through, but $$$... oh well, when I have $30,000 lying around and ready to spend building one of these, I'll let you know how it goes!

i like clubmans, my boss owns the australian arm of Westfield Sportscars.

www.westfield-sportscars.com.au
The yellow car, which i worked on during my yr10 work experience, has a turbo sr20, and is described as scary fast.

A customers car had a Huyabusa motorbike engine, and one of the cars being built now has a 270hp duratec. I couldnt see the point of trying to fit a falcon motor to a clubman, much like elfin putting Gen3's in their cars. Good in a straight line, no cornering ability. I want to build a clubman one day, gotta start saving!

gen3 are lighter then a turbo sr20? should handle just nicely
prob find they made it not handle to make them harder to write off.
