05 LS Focus "Engine System Fault" message??

Hi,

The GF has the above mentioned car drives great no issues in over 70k. The message frequently comes up saying "Engine Systems Fault" It happens intermitently and appears to have no effect on performance at all, temp is fine, car acceleration etc all completely normal.

Any ideas?

She did take it to a ford dealer recently to have it checked, I assumed the computer logged such events and would be an easy diagnosis. Silly me, they told her it may take 6-8 hours to trouble shoot at her cost as warranty is over with. Seems pathetic in this day and age.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. It has never come up at start up, minimum of 5 minutes down the road and again sometimes not at all. Last we saw it was 3 days ago now.

It is really worthwhile to obtain one of the many scanner cables on offer for sale. These are used with a laptop computer and free software. You can read the fault code when the light comes on. Pays for itself in no time.
