Default Mondeo facelift due in two months.

A face lifted Mondeo is due to be revealed at the Geneva Motorshow in March (although we’ll probably see photos out before then). To be honest, the current car (launched in 2007 IIRC) still looks fantastic so I hope they don’t muck it up.

The Ecoboost 2.0 4cyl is expected to go into the car with the possibility of the 1.6L EB motor as well. The former should be a rocket producing around 160kWs! I’d expect that would be featured in the XR5T (ops, they’ll have to change the name to XR4).

On the diesel front, the current 2.0 will be upgraded and a new 2.2 will be added. Unsure which one we’ll get here in Aus.

An all-new Mondeo that will be the new US Fusion as well will be launched in around two years.

I think this car will be lucky to make it to Australia, Paul. What sort of sales volumes are Mondeo's getting lately? Has anything changed with the supply of the colour/features you want and not having to wait 3-5 months for it to arrive?

I'm just about to get my 2nd year service (I've done 8K) but I am not looking forward to forking out +$170 for air conditioning re-gassing, as mine is useless above about 28 degrees. Just isn't cold enough......

I would love to see the car succeed, and as much as I enjoy the car, the moment it starts having expensive problems to fix, or it is dropped from the Ford range here in Oz, I will put it up for sale. I will probably lose 70% of the purchase price......

What do think has caused the Mondeo to fail in OZ. Do you think it's the lackluster petrol engine output or high-ish petrol/economy?

Is the Fiesta with all the great economy adds selling for Ford?

Firstly, the Fiesta is selling at record levels. Ford can't bring enough into the country.

Secondly, the Mondeo's sales are improving. With the exception of the Camry, the mid-sized cars don't get huge sale so 400-500 sales a month is actually quite good for that segment.

I'm led to believe that Ford are about to invest a lot into the Mondeo and more models will be arriving. I don't think Marin was happy with the initial launch so he's going to do it again.

I'd be expecting we'll get the new model with the new diesel and 149kW/300Nm turbocharged petrol motor later this year.

Your wish may be granted.

Paul - XR is a dying breed. I expect to see ST being used in Australia on anything non Falcon.

A Volkswagen? That's a two story Victa. Bloody Stupid Germans forgot to put the blades on it. And almost forgot to put the engines in them. Had to shove them in the boot as they shoved 'em out the factory door.

A Holden mechanic friend of mine said that the word about the Mondeo is - it's gone !!! That could just be him talking out of his hat, but he has no reason to make it up. He works for Holden, but has no loyalty to the Great Australian Daewoo.

Probably makes sense as it was going to get very confusing with the Fiesta XR4, Focus XR4 and Mondeo XR4...

He's wrong. Please ask him who's told him that because he couldn't be further from the truth.
