Unhappy Anyone else use yahoo mail? I Got hacked

Pretty much as the title says, anyone else use yahoo?I just received an understandably irate email from a member here, their child had been sent porn supposedly from my email. There are no traces of the email in any of my sent folders anywheaer. I had corresponded with the member some time ago, bit over a year maybe. However I did receive an email from yahoo them selves to change my email password due to recent compromised accounts. I also received a host of failed to deliver notices of mail sent to send only addresses and some confirmation emails for things like Telstra email bill service. If anyone else here that I have corresponded with has received mail with questionable / objectionable content, pleases accept my sincerest apology!Email starts with m583f..................

I now have to change my email address and also have involve the police due to the aforementioned person making threats against myself and my family, they are spreading my address around for others to send hate mail. it was supposed to be child pornography.

The person forgets that they used this site and had posted wanted ads and for sale ads.

I had Corresponded with them back in 26-11-2012 and actually sold them parts. But they now deny being a member here and ever buying said parts.

The link that was in the email I received in reply from this person goes to a health and wellbeing site.

Oh well so be the perrils of having to use online email due to no Internet service other than mobile or dial up.

Notify yahoo of your dilemma & have the email account shut down at least this should stop emails being sent by hacker.
Again you should notify the administrators of this site & put in complaint of said member who is threatening you & family as this should not happen, I think you have done a wise move involving the police.

Best of luck getting the mess sorted out.

Change your password. It's not just a yahoo thing, any email account can be hacked. I've had Optus suspend my account on a couple occasions because of email address hacking. It would also pay to beef up your spyware/malware checker.

    Have to agree ^^^^^^^^
I forgot to mention your PC might have been compromised by malware/virus infection.

Thanks fellas. Ive done this twice since I got the notification from yahoo them selves. Once with the notice then again this morning. The notice was Tuesday, the email I got from this other person was this morning.

I'm using an iPad via a wifi modem so I don't know what security software is on offer, but I'm looking into it.

Even gmail can be hacked (Chinese hackers) so think and use your
common sense while using free email services. There usually
is a catch somewhere in data storage or mail server spam protection.
As big sites are targets (ebay hack recently) change your passwords
and only give your email out to people you know or services you
use. Spam is a problem old as the internet however with
cloud computing this problem never goes away.

I even block ads because malware can creep though many places
and the other problem with central servers with many users globally
being easier to attack or monitor. There is porn ads, get rich quick
bull****, mail order bride blasphemy and all that stuff and young people
could be watching the net so one has to be even more cautious as we know the
    world is a dangerous place.

Yahoo has many problems but they are of 'management' in
nature. Them are like msn/hotmail address are 'spam highways' and I generally
block yahoo and msn automatically as I know how spam can
    mysteriously propagate..

Paid email services are always better and spam settings on
decent email providers can block entire countries ip listings
or popular spamming ips the serrvice is otherwise useless.

I generally have two email accounts one private one and
one for transactions on the net as it seperates my identity
and makes it harder for theives to hack. I also monitor
'metadata' but thats a subject I cover in the cyber warfare
    post.

Remember hackers go after people they see as important or
have money or assets at their disposal or may know of people
whom.. So think like a hacker and make their lives harder not
    easier.
