    Default Federal Election 2007

All posts relating to this years election I will put here-
This years election will probably be as big as a major
election in the 70's as to the outcomes for Australia
    now and in the future.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...1/s1834755.htm

One of the volleys fired. Let the slanging match begin.
Call me a cynic but I think not much has changed in politics
    since Roman times.

any more posts relating or personal opinion on standing members, parliamentarians
and the competing polices in this years election. Sensible debate by
    all means is most welcome.

I still find it ironic that Abbott is accusing Rudd of mixing politics with religious beliefs.

What are people's opinions on Rudd? I didn't mind Beazley but apparently a lot of people did, so if it means a Labor victory this election then I guess it had to happen (still a bit petty for many people to dismiss him based on the miniscule Rove gaff). I was kind of hoping for a Julia Gillard leadership though, bit more liberal than Rudd and the chance for the progressive crowd to get behind a female PM.

But what on earth has someone's gender got to do with anything? Why should someone vote for her simply because she's a female? This is similar to what may happened in the USA with Mrs. Clinton. Aren't we older than picking people based on gender? It's like primary school where you'd keep 100m from any girls, and they did the same.

Personally I like Rudd and would have no problems voting for him. My two concerns with his party are the following: they voted in the psychomaniac Mark Latham (Hitler Mk2??) and Gillard is too liberal for my liking.

PS: I didnít mind Beazley myself.

Have you met Mark Latham? He is a interesting person.
He certainly has a few things to say about people including
the media he so fondly loves. He was'nt that bad but some
of his ideas he would have to tone down a bit. I always thought
that little men run the world like Napoleon and Hitler thus its
the battle between two hardened political wrestlers in the
winner takes all battle for hearts and minds election. I assume
nothing will be sacred. Rudd vs Howard- Conservative Diplomat vs
    Hardened Political Economist.

Read a bit about him. Interesting character, although I can't say that his feelings for the media were completley unfair.
Nothing new about the terrorist debate though. We've heard it all before and we'll hear something similar again.

It's funny watching Howard flip-flop on issues, contradicting himself.

It reminds me of old Paul (the recession we had to have) Keating
and the numerous flip-flops he did before the public booted the

I think Howard is starting to get rattled by Rudd's surge in popularity.

I think Rudd is intelligent and articulate and will most likely vote for him come election time.

John does not seem to be worried by opinion polls either. Though old Eden-Monaro and which way it turns usually determines who sits in Canberra. A opinion poll recently in John Howard's own
seat of Bennelong did not look favourably either...

O baby now it looks like the gloves are off.

Rudd- John Howard is dangerous! -"national security risk" due to his policies on Iraq.

Howard- John called him a "know-all" in not so many words.
    He also called him '****y'
The prime minister also dubbed his rival "each-way-bet-Kevin", accusing Mr Rudd of failing to take a stand on contentious issues.

Don't forget John how you've suddenly gone green in this election and your turn around stance
    on David Hicks is hillarious.

Now the word ****y could be taken two ways depending on how you say it. Weather it was a phallic competition is anyone's guess!

What would Statler & Waldorf answer to such accusations of phallus?

Looks like this election is gonna get dirty. Lucky Im not in politics.

Our esteemed minister for the department of defense the Hon. Brendon Nelson (Iraq combat veteran, senior defense policy extraordinairre, medico on the side)
has said the war in conflict in Iraq is as vital as the Kokoda Trail.

    - Now unless they are not teaching kids basic geography these days
Iraq is in the Middle East. Kodoka was in the New Guinea highlands
only a stones throw away from Australia.

Here is a simple map to inform those who cannot find those
(I assume most forumers could pin them on the map half pissed/wasted)

Can you find Iraq? Is Australia within a literal stones throw away?
I think the Iraqis with their WMD's could flatten Hungary with their
stockpile of WMD's! Us poor Hungarians were screwed if we go by
    Brendans doctrine- geez.

Here is a Map of PNG

    The Kokoda track up close-

Here is Kokoda on a stones throw away from the mainland.

I think Terry Taliban and Johnny Jihad will hop in their little row boats
and motorised dingyies and threatern Australian coast anytime soon.

Thanks to the bravery of Aussie diggers up North stopped those Jappers
before they could set up camp in Australia. If they did their is little
doubt most Australian men would have died in labour camps and women
enslaved as 'confort women' as happened in other areas the happy
little murderers occupied. Me and my old man see that as the only
time Australia was in 'clear and present' danger of being attacked directly
    and threaterned with invasion.

Technically considering PNG was once Australian territory it was the only time
Australian land was 'officially' attacked. All other times we've helped out Uncle Sam
and the UN in all other conflicts with no direct 'plan of attack' on our
own country. Thus when looking at this maybe Brendan should sack
his advisors to prevent further embarrassment. The things they will
do to impress that SOB **** 'I run Halliburton and rat on my spies'
    Cheney.

Rudd, the honeymoon is over. My old WA friend Burke (unofficially
runs WA I believe like old Joh' ran QLD long after he left office) must get
into the Panama hat business. I need a Panama hat as well. Chamberlain
met Hitler and did not mean he was a Nazi. Rudd may have met Burke
but due to his WA Labour minister who never mentioned 'he was dodgy'
he has been exonerated I think.

You can tell if somebody is dodgy if they wear one of these-lol

The only thing could be 'guilty' by association' but im sure Labour if it tried hard enough could pin some dodgy Liberals and their corrupt business connections... I need not mention AWB and the Cole enquiry failing to
investigate govt ministers...You cannot investiagte corruption when no investigation is allowed.
That is probably even more incriminating. All we need is a 'deepthroat' from ASIO whistle-blower to rock up
with some interesting telexs from the foreign affairs office....

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...3/s1862169.htm
The Rudd response. Looks like LIberal & Labour have met Mr Burke.
Maybe even old JH did at some point in time, after all he was premier once.

    Quote-
But it has been revealed the federal Human Services Minister, Senator Ian Campbell, had discussions with Mr Burke about a racing redevelopment proposal when they met last year.

hmmm interesting times looks like the howard government is starting to fall apart when even its attacks fail.
has rudd spent any time as an army grunt as i hope he is prepared to try and get australia out of the american war stop buying us crap like the tanks.
worst move the howard government ever did as they actully go against all the australian tank tactics since we will sit there for 3 hours idling before moving the us tanks use more fuel at idle then flat out.
a lepord 2 whould of been much better for our tactics and where an assult whould happen as well cape york or darwin.

Looks like John Howard has read Macbeth too many
times. He is willing to cut the throats of his own
men so he can keep his throne....

His assault on Rudds integrity is fundamentally flawed when he
did not investigate AWB Govt involvement... Double standards I think.

Tony Abbott heart on his sleeve Catholic (im one and he is snivelling
and IMO is a token Catholic) has used religion again in Australian politics.

Does Mr Howard like his porn(violent porn) & convicted crims or to put it
more aptly- anybodies ok so long as you have money for a Liberal fundraiser.
I wonder what old tthheekk would comment on this one. I wonder if Mr Victor Bort will help
the Liberals in his fund-raising as well. A global arms dealer would
provide him a glowing reference in his moral integrity. John Howard always
