Default Music time: what listening to now

Havent done this for a while.

At the moment I have the following in the car:
    - Hed PE "Back to Base X": This is great - Hed did some awesome stuff early: church of realities and the selftitled record, then Broke which was also very good, then Blackout which was alright, then only in Amerika which was pus. But this one gets them back to something like the early couple of records where their lyrics were intelligent and not trying to appeal to a juvenile audience like the more recent stuff.
tracks: "White Collars", "Days of war" and "so it be" are awesome stuff - the music is not like their early stuff- a little loose, but Jahred's vocals are fantastic (in the context of him) and lyrically it's back more towards the original PE (Public Enemy) than the nonsense recently. Am wrapped they have their direction back. Not their best record but a massive step back in the right direction: having said that their selftitled record is a classic Rap-metal record.

Living Colour - Vivid. Old as the hills but Cult of Personality and Open Letter still 2 of the best songs ever made

311 Soundsystem - a record I couldn't pay at first but has since grown to be my favorite 311 record

Strait up - the tribute record to James Lynn Strait with all the guest vocalists (Corey Taylor, Jahred Shane, Serj Tankian, Jonathan Davis, Fred Durst...) still great.

As I type: Doolin-Dalton, the Eagles.

    In the six-stacker currently:
    "Desert Lights", Something For Kate
"About an hour of Songs in a Hour", Tripod (on hire)
"Songs from the South: The Best of", Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls
"Songs from Black Mountain", Live (they're coming down under again in October, hmm...they were good last time)
    "Hot Fuss", the Killers
"Aiming at you Head", Betchadupa (on hire - how much does Liam sound like his father!? It's like CH in their pubescent garageband days)

On the computer on repeat - aforementioned Tripod, Best of Dire Straits, couple from Best of Bee Gees, couple of Butterfingers songs.
"wake up, Charlie, rise and shine, pour the tea, I'll draw the blinds"

Pirates of Caribbean II soundtrack. Good classical work by Hans Zimmer.

My theme even has overtures of death metal in it. w00t!

    Nice.

I prefer Ride the Valkyries by Wagner mixed with a bit of old emperor.

Do I need to say?? (See sig)

Right now my favourite song would have to be "The Big 3 Killed My Baby", by The White Stripes. Also "Astro", by The White Stripes is another favourite.

I could go on all day.

I'd be interested to know how you guys use to listen to your music. i.e Do you listen to it on a cd through a stereo, or do you have it running through your computer, and what sort of speakers/stereo system do you have?

I play all my music through my computer, and I mainly buy cds to get the music onto my computer, but I often download music, and sometimes torrent it. I just bought some new speakers today, as my old ones decided to $hit themselves. I bought a LogiTech X230 system, I won't go into detail, but it's a great sounding system, and was quite cheap I thought, at $120NZ. I wanted something as good as my old ones, that wasn't to expensive, and I got all that and more. I'm sure there are far better systems out there, in terms of power anyway, but if you're looking for a good quality system thats fairly cheap the X230 is very good.

I'm usually listening in the car more than anywhere else. I get about 1-1.5 hours a day in the thing is ultra heavy traffic so it's the best place. System is the Premium Audi Bose System so it's plenty loud.
When travelling I listen to stuff on headphones with the PS2 a lot.

I reckon it's fairly poor. The first one is great, but the soundtrack for 2 is dodgy. I must just listen to it again and see how it goes...

    Ohh my home stereo- modified

    Marantz ST153 (rated at 30W from factory ) - 1986 model- 20 years young
I rebuilt it with new caps, new thicker insulated
power cables, better resistors on some bits
and a custom cut heatsink with a fan I run
out back that kicks over by a thermostat.
New RCA connectors. Stereo amps thump
over pro logic stuff. Picked up at Vinnies for
40 Bob. Replaced 2000 model Pioneer Pro
Logic 100W unit which was crap.

Running Marantz SD153 Cassette Deck & NAD C521BEE CD

running Jensen Millenium Series 150 W speakers with new
Yamaha Woofers which I picked up at a garage sale. Going
to wire some Pioneer car speakers in a box to test them oneday.

I cannot safetly (for concern to hearing ) more than 1/2 volume.
