    Question Phase 4 winged sump

i seen a Phase 4 winged sump (with "ears") for $850ish, is that cheap?

there is a place in perth which makes reproduction ones..

do you think this is a waste of time, or something worthy, i mean if it was supposed to go to the GTHO Ph 4, then it must be good, right??

still, its a lot of money to part for a sump

Yep a little on the expensive side. But a restorer may pay that for a resto project such as a RPO83 GT. The sump was a good piece of kit in its day and is still a good piece today, but the aftermarket can do better nowadays for high performance applications.

    Some did, some didnt
some had 4 wheel disc brakes, some didnt
some had long range fuel tanks, some didnt
some had bigger carbies, some didnt

i think you get the drift....

The list goes on and on, the RPO 83 is the hardest car to prove its authenticity due to the non-catalouging by ford when they ushered all the GTHO phase 4 parts (oh so quietly) out the back door. :frown:
So without the owner having a recorded history of previous owners, they may even sell a gem without even knowing. :frown:

(speaking of Phase 4 parts, i know of a XD ESP Falcon which came "standard" with the winged sump as the sump was in the spare parts bin at ford, so lots of cars received Phase 4 goodies)

they were made for the phase 4's ..never got fitted.
Because the phase 3's had oil problems at bathurst etc tracks.
They work very well and worth every cent to protect your clevo
Guy in melbourne makes them up exactly same as originals but yes they are still $800

ps. RPO's never had them or 4 bolt blocks or 4WD...zzzzzzzzzzzz
come on eddie check those facts ;-)

Yep, marcus here in perth bought his RPO83 sedan from a guy that didn't know what it was, nor did Marcus until it was home and cleaned it up and decoded everything and got the Ford letter.. $14K for a Calypso green XA GT with the different (Hawiian?, tropical?? something odd) trim code fabric seat inserts winged sump and factory solid lifter cammed engine that hasn't been out of the car or heads off yet!.... nice score!.

Speaking of the RPO cars, Marcus here in Perth scored his from a guy that though it was just a GT.. it has the IV solid cam engine, winged sump, close ratio box, Hawaiian interior option etc.. at $18K absolute bargain for a XA GT let alone an RPO with all that stuff, pity it had been repainted Vermillion Fire but is now back to its nice Calypso Green.
