    Default starter motor problem

My 99/00 model AU has been having starting troubles in the morning. Usually the starter motor doesn't catch (whirring noise), but it sometimes makes an awful grinding noise when I turn the key. The battery has gone flat a couple of times while trying to crank it up. Is the whirring noise an indicator that the starter motor needs replacing, or is it more likely to be a battery charging problem?

    Cheers,

    Frank.

oh well, had to happen sooner or later I guess. How easy are these things to change? Are there any repair manuals (thinking Gregory's style) out for the AU?

The starter problem has mysteriously disappeared. I'm wondering if it's temperature related - the mornings have been a lot warmer than when it was playing up.

This could indicate a bad electrical connection somewhere. Either way it's not good....
