Re: fg dash change to xr

Yep that is the idea but it is a bit rough when you need a tow because your cluster stopped working.

Re: fg dash change to xr

The instrument cluster has a unique number stored in its electronics. When the car is started the computer verifies that the cluster number is correct (it does it for other components too). If the...

  5. Re: What does the 'MKll' mean in Ford Kuga MKll Titanium

Anyone getting nervous after the reported Kuga fires in South Africa. The Aussie ones come from the same factory in Spain.
  6. Re: What does the 'MKll' mean in Ford Kuga MKll Titanium

They probably thought that people would think Mk11 stood for "mark eleven" rather than "mark two". They seem to cope with R on a gearlever meaning Reverse rather than race!

Re: Problem with Mixer or HIM?

If you look at the circuit board in the HIM you will find that has zener diodes on it. They are 1% tolerance versions (not commonly available) and they were used as a cost down instead of using...

    Re: Fpv logo

As far as I can recall the GT had a GT badge and the Ford oval was replaced with the FPV logo. There wasn't any extras.

Re: Beijing Motorshow Honda and Nissan

I like the Nissan EV but find the highlighting on the bonnet a bit much but as it is a concept I could live with it. It does show that designers will have to come to grips with designing interesting...

    Re: Indicators flashing double speed

I don't think it has a relay at all. It is controlled by an IC on the cluster pcb. The BA Falcon certainly was I remember buying the ICs for the protos.

  18. Re: Drivers Electric Window goes Up and then Down then doesn't work - 1999 Fairmont

If you try the swap and it works then the problem, most likely, is that the white plastic bits on the switch are worn. You need to disassemble the switches again.
I fixed this by putting a dab on...

  22. Re: health prescription for Australian car manufacturing

Monash Uni can 3d print a jet engine so technology is moving fast so hopefully it will put the GM and Fords etc out of business and you will be able to do an individual design of the vehicle you want.
  23. Re: health prescription for Australian car manufacturing

I think a Thai built "Commodore" is much more likely than Chinese one same with the Falcon replacement. Don't be surpised if eventually the 'Commodore" is made in Indonesia as GM is establishing a JV...
  24. Re: health prescription for Australian car manufacturing

Yes you are right but I will add one thing. Who believes there is car manufacturing anywhere that doesn't have Government subsidies, tax concessions or grants of land involved- I certainly don't.
  25. Re: health prescription for Australian car manufacturing

The problem is that as soon as an Australian company gets good it gets bought out if the exchange rate is right or they wait until it is right then buy them.
