at the moment im saving my pennies for an EB S or XR6 (hopefully). im looking at doing some mods, and because i plan to make this car schmicko im looking at comprehensive insurance.

anyone else here insured a modded car? im under 25, and have had my license disqualified once last year for 3 months due to loss of points. whered you go for insurance, what did you pay? im getting "just car" insurance to give me a qoute, which im waiting for.

any info would be great!

aimzes, because you have already lost your license on a previous occasion, your premium will automatically be pretty high. :(

A stock EB XR6, for an under-25 who has lost his license once, in a 'moderate risk' area, from an educated guess; I'd say around $4000.

I'm 22, have a 20% no-claim, have no at-fault incidents or charges, live in a low-moderate risk area and have insured a 200kw 1995 EFII Fairmont for $2300.

If I had a 0% no-claim and had my license removed once, the premium would have been $5000.

Good luck. :)

Im 21 and have a modded EL 6cyl. I go through RACQ and pay about 450 a year comprehensive insurance with a rating 2.
With you loosing your license before you will be up for big dollars even with an un-modified car so expect to pay.
"Just Car" will insure almost anybody but expect to pay for it of course.
hey surreall00 how many km's have you got on you car??

Having a Rating 2 at that age??? That's like a 50% no claim! :eek You also must live in a low risk area, because $450 is extremely low! (Are you sure you didn't mean $4500? - My Father is 47, has a 60% no-claim, drives an EL Fairmont, and pays $800.)

My car has done it's time, but she's still purring. 235 000.

Age plays a big part in it. Last year I was 29 and it cost me $1400 a year on 60% NCB + clean history for an ED XR6 with Full Tickford body kit, Momo wheel, exhaust etc..
This year as I'm now 30 it's $850.

Yes, it is 450 dollars a year. With mods: extractors, exhaust, wheels, lowered, aftermarket body kit. My excess is the killer bit though, its $1200. Normal excess, age excess and bodykit excess all put together.
I do live in a smaller town and not in a city so this would lower the cost i guess.
I am very happy with my insurance and have been with RACQ since i was about 18. This may account for the cheaper price.

Ah, you live in a small town.

That explains the premium then. Location. Location. Location.

yeah they want 2,900 for a year

get well and truely F-ed

ok, im young and have no real expenses... but its the principal! i will not spend $3000 on a modded 6 that is 11 years old just incase i crash it. im a pretty carefull driver, however i know i could have a crash.

what ill try is a qoute for a EB S with just lowered suspension, an exhaust, and mags. will see what that does to the price.

Well Im 20, EL with full exhaust, cold air and mags and Aami was insurring me, until they realised they screwed up, they put me down as a 35 yearold so i was getting $700 a year, after they relised i was 20 they said they wouldnt insure me at all! So I went to RACQ and they will plus allow me a bodykit and lowered 1.5 inchs for $950, i have had a car stolen from my driveway which they dont really like to hear.

MY friend who is also 20 is on rating 2 or 3 because he has been incident free plus lives a little further out of town, so again location. But still pays about $800ish cause is a commodore.

so those prices arent for full insurance are they? just third party?

Yeah full comprehensive.

Commordores attract a certain idiot factor generally, and even the cops think so, I was out cruising one night, gave it a bit just before going over this hill, saw the cops and threw it in 5th and let it roll, the stock VL beside me got pulled over!

My bad...:|
